Op. 151: Ecossaise
Dedicated to Mme M. T. Amirian, a pianist-teacher at a Paris music school. Ecossaises is a scottish quadrille that was highly fashionable in the salons of the Second Empire. However, Chaminade replaced its usual duple meter with a 3/4 time signature. The marcatissimo, always begins in the low register, and the dolce or leggiero reserved for the upper keyboard.
