Dedicated to Mademoiselle Ducasse, with text by Robert Myriel, this piece was originally written in A minor (E. & C. 4523) and was also published in G minor (E. & C. 4524). “The Young Lady” tells the story of a woman who has been pledged in marriage to a baron she does not love. Unfortunately, she is being held against her will in prison. She describes the prison as dark and gloomy, with only a song from her attendant to offer her comfort.
